LolaFi ("the app") is a music player for Android and Android TV that connects
to a Jellyfin media server that you provide and control. This policy
explains what data the app handles and how.

1. Who we are

LolaFi is developed and maintained independently. Contact:
[email protected].

2. What the app stores

LolaFi does not have its own backend, and does not itself collect or store
your personal data on any server we run. The only data the app stores is
kept locally on your device:

  • Jellyfin server URL and authentication token — entered by you when you
connect the app to your own Jellyfin server, stored locally so you don't
have to log in every time.
  • Downloaded audio files — saved to the app's private storage when you
choose to download tracks for offline playback.
  • Playback preferences and app settings — e.g. equalizer settings,
    battery-optimization prompt state, saved locally.

3. Who the app talks to

  • Your Jellyfin server — the app sends playback requests and reports
playback progress only to the server URL you configure. What that server
does with the data is governed by your own server's configuration, not by
    this policy.
  • Anthropic (Claude API) — AI Mix feature only. If you use the "AI Mix"
screen to describe a vibe (by typing or using voice input), the app sends
your prompt text and a list of artist/genre names from your library to
Anthropic's Claude API (api.anthropic.com) to generate playlist
suggestions. This request uses an API key we (the developer) own and
provide as part of the app — you never see, enter, or manage this key
yourself. Using this key, your prompt and library metadata leave your
device and are processed by Anthropic. This only happens when you
actively use the AI Mix feature; it is not used for regular library
search. See Anthropic's own privacy policy for how they handle API data.
  • Google Cast (Chromecast) — if you cast to a Chromecast device, LolaFi
uses Google Play Services' Cast SDK to discover devices on your local
network and stream to them. This is governed by Google's own privacy
policy for Play Services; LolaFi does not add any tracking of its own.

LolaFi contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK,
and no in-app purchases.

4. Permissions the app requests

Permission Why
Internet / network state To connect to your Jellyfin server (and to Anthropic, only when you use AI Mix)
Foreground service (media playback) So music keeps playing when you leave the app or lock the screen
Wake lock Keeps network audio streaming without interruption during playback
Ignore battery optimizations (optional, phone only) Lets you exempt LolaFi from aggressive OEM battery managers that would otherwise kill background playback; you are prompted once and can decline
Storage (Android 12 and below) Needed to save downloaded tracks for offline playback

Voice input (no microphone permission requested by LolaFi). The mic
button on the Search and AI Mix screens launches your device's own default
speech-recognition app (e.g. the Google app) via an Android system intent.
That app — not LolaFi — accesses the microphone and performs the
transcription under its own permission; LolaFi never declares the
RECORD_AUDIO permission and never records or processes raw audio itself.
It only receives the final transcribed text back. For ordinary library
search, that text is used solely to query your own Jellyfin server. For AI
Mix, that text is sent on to Anthropic as described in Section 3 above.

LolaFi does not request camera, contacts, or location access.

5. Data sharing and sale

We do not sell or rent your data. The one case where data leaves your device
to a party other than your own Jellyfin server is the AI Mix feature
described in Section 3, which sends your prompt and library metadata to
Anthropic — and only when you choose to use that feature.

6. Your control over your data

  • All app data lives locally on your device and on the Jellyfin server you
    chose to connect to.
  • Logging out clears the locally stored server URL and auth token.
  • Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data, including
    downloaded audio files.
  • Because LolaFi has no backend of its own, there is no account or data to
delete on our end — there is nothing for us to hold.

7. Children's privacy

LolaFi is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect
data from children.
